Dukes’
starter named Pitcher of the Week

( PITTSFIELD, Mass.) –
Pittsfield Dukes pitcher Michael Ness (Duke) was named pitcher of
the week this week for the final days of the regular season.
Ness pitched six scoreless innings of one-hit ball against the
Torrington Twisters earlier in the week and then threw out of the
bullpen in the regular season finale. The right handed pitcher also
pitched two scoreless innings against Newport, striking out four
Gulls in the process.
Ness led the Dukes starters this season with a 1.08 earned run
average while compiling a 5-1 record. Opposing hitters only batted
.166 against the Dukes starter who will be returning to the Duke’s
Blue Devil campus this fall for his junior season.
