Dukes announce plans for
final home games of season at Wahconah Park

( PITTSFIELD, Mass.) – The
2008 NECBL season is quickly coming to a close, and the first place
Pittsfield Dukes have announced their plans for the final four home
games of the regular season.
Pittsfield (20-12) will host the Manchester Silkworms in a potential
playoff matchup on Friday July 25th at seven o’clock. This will be
the first Dukes home game following the All Star break, and the win
on the road last night against the Danbury Westerners 11-9..It is
Lenox night at Wahconah Park and fans from the town are encouraged
to come out and see the first place Dukes in this potential playoff
preview.
The next Pittsfield home game will take place on July 26th for Fan
Appreciation Night. The Pittsfield Dukes will take on their
Berkshire County rivals, the North Adams SteepleCats, in the battle
of the Berkshires. Dukes Happy Hour will start at five o’clock with
the band Quick Fox playing at Wahconah Park. The Dukes will also
have a picnic for all of their sponsors at the park as well. Game
time is set for seven o’clock.
On Sunday, July 27th, the Vermont Mountaineers will play the Dukes
in a five o’clock contest in Pittsfield. The Mountaineers have won
back-to-back NECBL Championships and are looking to repeat this
season for the third straight season.
On Monday, July 28th, the Pittsfield Dukes will host a Twi-night
Doubleheader at Wahconah Park as they play host to the Torrington
Twisters and the Keene Swamp Bats. Monday, June 28th was originally
scheduled as an off day, but with a few rain delays in July, the
Dukes will make up games against the Twisters at 1:30 in the
afternoon, and then host the Keene Swamp Bats at seven. The Dukes
will have a Business Man’s Special all day long. Bring your cell
phone to the game and receive premium box seats for the price of
general admission.
And finally, the Dukes will host their 1st ever playoff game on
August 2nd at seven o’clock. The Dukes franchise has never won more
than sixteen games in a season and has yet to make the playoffs in
their five year existence. Following their first playoff game, WBRK
1340 AM and STAR 101.8 FM will host the post-game fireworks
extravaganza approximately twenty minutes after the conclusion of
the game. The home game will be contingent on the Dukes finishing in
first or second in the Southern Division.
