PITTSFIELD, Mass. (Sunday, June 14, 2008) - The Pittsfield Dukes will host Team USA on June 16th, and have announced that they will also host the Dominican Republic All Star team this season as well.

The game is scheduled to take place on July 6th at historic Wahconah Park.

The 5-2 Dukes, off to the best start in franchise history, will now play a Dominican All Star team made up of some of the best baseball players that the Dominican Republic has to offer.

The sport of baseball continues to see many rising stars from the Dominican Republic. Ozzie Virgil Sr. opened the door as the 1st ever player from the Dominician Republic to make the majors, and this gave the opportunity to many more players along the way.

Some of the best players in the game right now, including Hanley Ramirez, Albert Pujols, Manny Ramirez, and Miguel Tejada to name a few.

The all-time great and Hall of Famer Juan Marichal also was one of the MLB stars reigning from the country.

This is a new opportunity for fans to make it to Wahconah Park and see another national team in 2008.

These Dominican All Stars admire and respect the game of baseball very much and this sets up what should be a fine contest on July 6th.

Tickets are still available and can be picked up at the Dukes offices down at Wahconah Park. You could also call 447 3853 to inquire about tickets to the Dukes game against the Dominican Republic All Stars or any other Dukes home game this season.
