(DANBURY)- The Pittsfield Dukes are off to a 2 game winning streak after defeating the Danbury Westerners 11 to 2 at Rogers Park.

Last night the Dukes played long ball to defeat the Newport Gulls 12 to 4 and this time Pittsfield used small ball to extend the winning streak.

The Dukes got off to the early 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Westerners scored twice courtesy a Melvin Castillo 2 run home run in the bottom half.

The rest of the game belonged to the Dukes as they would score two runs in each of the 2nd and 3rd innings respectively and tallying an additional 6 runs in the final three frames.

Michael Ness (Duke) earns the victory after pitching five solid innings of four hit ball only yielding two runs. The bullpen followed impressively pitching four shutout innings and allowing only two hits.

Joey Rosenbeck led Pittsfield with three runs batted in and Craig Hertler finished with three runs in only 1 official at bat.

Pittsfield will now travel back home and have Sunday off and they are expected to start Matt Giusti in the season opener at Wahconah Park on Monday night.
